On the Bozburun peninsula, a cool waterfall spilling from the rock in plane-tree shade — a hidden oasis with an ice-cold pool.

On the Bozburun peninsula west of Marmaris, at the end of a path running through the village of Turgut, the Turgut Waterfall spilling from a rocky cleft is one of the region’s cool refuges. Though only a few hundred metres inland from the sea, the valley shaded by giant plane and laurel trees is surprisingly cool in the summer heat; the small pool the water falls into is icy, and the bold take a short cooling break.

Reaching the waterfall is easy: a stony path starting inside the village brings you to the foot of the rock along the stream bed in a pleasant walk of about fifteen minutes, accompanied by water channels, centuries-old plane trees and village life. The flow varies by season — it is at its most magnificent in spring and after rains, thinning by late summer. Combined with the famous giant plane tree of nearby Bayır village, Selimiye and Orhaniye (Kızkumu), it makes one of the most enjoyable day routes on the Bozburun peninsula.
