The Bodrum home where Zeki Müren — the legendary "Sun of Art" of Turkish classical music — spent his final years; now a museum of his stage costumes, paintings and car.

The Zeki Müren Art Museum is the Bodrum home where Zeki Müren (1931–1996) — one of the most beloved and original figures of Turkish classical music, known as the "Sun of Art" — spent the final years of his life. After the artist's death, the house was arranged by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and opened to visitors as a museum on 8 July 2000.

On display are Müren's dazzling stage costumes, paintings he made himself, letters from his admirers, the awards he won and objects from his daily life — an intimate window onto his personal world, his elegance and his sense of stage aesthetics. In the garden stand his own car, a Buick Regal, and a bronze statue by the sculptor Tankut Öktem.

Given Zeki Müren's symbolic place in Turkish culture, the museum is more than an artist's house; it is a window onto the music, the sense of elegance and the popular culture of an era. Set in the town centre right beside our hotel, it makes a short but unforgettable cultural stop.
