Near Turgutreis, a long beach famed for its shallow clear water — a calm sunset bay named after the castle ruins overlooking the shore.

North of Turgutreis, Kadıkalesi takes its name from the ruins of the medieval castle on the hill commanding the shore. It is known that a settlement called “Termera” stood on this coast in antiquity, and that in later centuries the area served as a lookout and defensive point; today the castle ruins give the cove a distinctive historic backdrop. But what truly makes Kadıkalesi appealing to visitors is its long, wide beach and clear water that stays shallow for metres out to sea.

Because the sea stays shallow so long, the beach is extremely safe for families with children and for relaxed swimming. Thanks to its west-facing position, Kadıkalesi hosts one of the Aegean’s finest sunsets; in the evening the Greek islands appearing on the horizon and the sea turning crimson offer an unforgettable view to those strolling along the shore. With its closeness to central Turgutreis and its market, its calm setting among tangerine groves and its unpretentious atmosphere, Kadıkalesi is one of the peninsula’s most peaceful coastal corners.
