Steep descent · limited electricity/grid · bungalow-tent camping culture

Below the village of Faralya south of Ölüdeniz, where a steep slope covered in pine and carob meets the sea, Kabak Bay is one of the freest corners of the Fethiye coast. The valley drops sharply from the village above toward the shore; getting down means either walking a steep, stony path or taking the shuttles that run from the village. That difficulty has protected the cove from mass tourism and given rise to a distinctive way of life built from wooden bungalows and tent camps scattered across the slope.

Kabak lies on one of the best-loved stages of the Lycian Way: the walk starting at Faralya, descending to Kabak and continuing to Cennet Cove is a classic of the route, with sea views and valley crossings. The shore is a mix of pebble and sand; the water deepens quickly and is astonishingly clear. Walking inland up the valley, waterfalls and shaded paths meet you. In this cove, where electricity and signal are limited, the night sky is extraordinarily clear. It combines into one route with Butterfly Valley, Ölüdeniz and Kayaköy.
