South of Kuşadası — a protected national park where pine forest drops to pebble coves, with clear water, wildlife and the Zeus Cave.

Stretching from Güzelçamlı toward the Aegean south of Kuşadası, the Dilek Peninsula is protected as a national park together with the Great Meander Delta. The pine and maquis cover of Mount Samsun (ancient Mykale) along the peninsula’s spine drops steeply to a series of pebble coves on the shore; the clear, ice-cold water of the İçmeler, Aydınlık, Kavaklıburun and Karasu coves is among the cleanest sea in the region. The forest road between the coves is ideal for cycling and walking.

The park’s true value is the life it shelters: wild boar, jackal, badger and a rich diversity of birds live in these mountains, the subject of Anatolian leopard legends; the Great Meander Delta section is a haunt of flamingos and migratory birds. The Zeus Cave at the Güzelçamlı entrance, with its cold freshwater pool and legends, makes a short but delightful stop. To protect the natural balance, leave no trace, light no fires and do not disturb the wildlife. It combines into one route with Kuşadası, Ephesus and Priene.
